Sales Effectiveness


This topic is about how to make more with less and the right way to optimize your sales effectiveness. I know so many powerful techniques and patterns of persuasion, now, that some people tell me – you cannot talk in a normal way anymore. Once my great friend and the General Manager of the company that I still work with, asked me, what is your best and most powerful persuasion ‘weapon’. And to this question my simple answer was – and I know that it may sound profoundly simple – whenever I meet with a client of mine I ask myself ‘How can I help that person?’ In my situation, and in order to stay ahead of the game, I still sell insurance and financial services and additionally to that I teach companies and individuals how to upgrade your sales effectiveness.

In the beginning of working with a client I always ask them to tell me what they sell and why they sell it. This is another killer question, which really determines whether or not I can be assured that I can help them dramatically improve their sales. I have seen an amazing number of people who suck as persuaders and yet, when you ask them about what they do – they are so incredibly enthusiastic about their product that all of a sudden they become pretty good persuaders. The skills will work both with a product that you don’t believe in as well as with a product that you believe in. But if I may quote the “Wizard’s First Rule” who would you be more afraid of; a young man who thinks that you have stolen their lunch or an old lady who believes that you have kidnapped her grand child?! And oh by the way, which will make you happier: to lie to people or to know that you are really changing their lives in an amazing and wonderful way? So, my advice is when you chose well what you will persuade people about and then it is extremely easy to ask yourself, ‘How can I help this person/people? How can I make their life better with my product or service?’, because if you stop and think about it you will discover that this is precisely what the idea of a good product or service is.

Therefore, in order for you to have fun, be happy with your job and make a lot of money you need to think about what you will sell with passion. What product or service will make a positive difference in the lives of your potential clients and thus make you extremely happy to sell it to them. This and the question, ‘How can I help this person?’ will naturally increase your sales effectiveness and make your sales life much happier and a lot more fun, because when you know that what you do is sell happiness, success, health and everything else that a good product or service may incorporate it will be that much easier for you to stay focused and on track and sell, sell, sell with power.
